Backstory: Born and raised in Hamburg, Germany, Nikolaus was the son of a prominent pharmaceutical CEO in a cutthroat, prestigious family and enjoyed many luxuries growing up. He was rather intelligent, and often found it unnecessary to pay his full attention in class. Despite this lack of effort, it was apparent that he possessed an exceptional intellectual aptitude, and skipped several grades in school. With the lack of people his age to make friends with, however, Nikolaus grew to be antisocial and perhaps even apathetic. Having flown through school, Nikolaus was provided funding by his father to move to America and practice law on the West Coast, and it was around this time that he legally changed his name to Johann Roth to avoid having the pressure of bearing his family's name. Having been a lawyer in the region for a few years, Johann moved to the Midwest to evade boredom, and perhaps claim the greatness his family wanted of him.
